How to Obtain Power and Accuracy Golf Swing

To obtain power and accuracy golf swing you must develop a consistent and rhythmical golf swing. To do this you will need to work on all parts of your swing. whether it be the backswing, downswing, impact or follow-through. Power is a combination of co-ordinated body movements.

Full body ratation is vital to a powerful and accurate golf swing. If you want to increase the distance you hit, your shots, and use the clubs to their potential, you must turn smoothly and competently on both your backswing and throughswing. You achieve good body turn by starting your backswing with your whole left side. Make sure that you don't fail into the most common trap, swing with your hands and arms only.

The takeaway begins with your left side rotating towards the right. This continues until the top of the backswing. when your left side begins its journey back. It pulls your arms and hands down and you release the clubhead at impact with force and accuracy., Body turn does not end at impact. As your hands and arms swing the club through, your upper body keeps turning. Only at the top of the followthrough should your shoulders finaly catch up with your hips., All these movements must work together to form a complete, slick swing. Your body must find the key positions if you're to become consistent.

As you start the backswing, your arms and hands, the only part of your body in contact with the club, move because your shoulders do. Your left knee and right hip respond. Your back must face the target at the top of the backswing and your left arm should be straight. You need to create lively tension in your leg and back muscles to store maximum power at top of the backswing, as if you are stretching an elastic band. The only way to achieve elastic tension is by turning your shoulders 90 degree and your hips 45 degree.

Many golf players fail to complete their shoulder turn because they don't feel they can return the club smoothly to impact. They stop their shoulder turn halfway and complete the backswing by breaking the left arm. When this happens you lose all control and power. Turning your hips as far as your shoulders also causes problems. You lose all tension, and store no power. The positive tension at the top of the backswing unwinds during the downswing. Your upper body pulls your arms and hands to the downswing's mind point. They are loaded with power and about to release at exactly the right time.

The more tension you create between your hips and shoulders, the more clubhead speed you produce, which increase distance. Let clubhead speed help bring your right shoulder round to the left after impact. The shoulde in turn forces your head up to the ball as you swivel round to a full finish.
